Just the Kids, Ma'am, Just the Kids: June 2011

Well, since we've had our three year old well check, I suppose I should update everyone on our little Miss T, shouldn't I? It's just not fair to keep you waiting much longer!

Weight: a whopping 37 pounds 8 oz (94th%)

Height: a staggering 40inches (96th%)

Blood Pressure: 86/44...apparently that's perfect (?) Who knew 3 year olds got their blood pressure tested!!

I enjoyed reading over some of the development milestones my child may be doing at this age. For example:

speak clearly, have a vocabulary of 1,000-2,000 words, speak sentences of four to six words and use pronouns and plurals correctly. (I wish I could have someone come into my home and assess just how many words this child has in her vocabulary because I am willing to bet it is WAY many than 2,000. Considering the talking starts as soon as she wakes and doesn't stop until bedtime. Even then she talks in her sleep, so...)
ask "how", "what", "why" and "when" (oh my. Someone please tell me this ends soon because she has been doing this since she was 2)

Under sleep:

your child may stop taking naps. (um...yah this stopped over a year ago, but thanks)

Under safety:

Use a car seat until your child weighs 40 pounds and turns 4 years old. (so close!)
Talk to your child about not talking to strangers. (Yah, like that's going to happen)

The Doctor said all is well, she is a "perfect three year old."

Right now, Tennyson is very inquisitive, wants to be involved with everything and wants to know what's going on. She loves arts and crafts, her book reader, painting, playing, watching shows (YGG, Care Bears, SuperWhy, Strawberry Shortcake), loves having people to play with, making her brother laugh, helping Dad in the yard, taking picture after picture after picture with her new camera, and everything really!

She is happy kid (mostly, not when you tell her no to watching a show though), loves to tell knock knock jokes that make absolutely no sense, but she thinks they're hilarious! She also loves playing with all of her Care Bear friends (imaginary!), playing restaurant and making a giant mess all over the house!

She is still a great eater. The only food she says she does not like is lettuce. She likes spinach though...? She likes sweets much more now and would probably eat them all day if she could. Luckily for me, she forgets about them and will easily take fruit when offered as an option. One funny thing...when you give her a piece of cake she will most likely eat all of the icing, not touch the cake and ask for another piece!

In September she starts preschool and is very excited! Every time we see a school bus she squeals, "That's my school bus!" Too bad for her she won't be taking a bus to school.

She is a very friendly, expressive, questioning, repetitive, at time impatient, stubborn little girl!! We are working on learning what waiting means.

She loves to help her brother, make him laugh, help him walk, and just play with him.

We love her little personality and having her as part of the family! It would definitely be a lot quieter around here without her!

We love you Tennyson, can't wait until you're 4!
