Here We Go

After all the pestering I give Mark about watching what he says in front of Tennyson...I think I may be the culprit in her first not appropriate for an under 2 year old uttering.  Although, depending who you ask it's not that bad. 

We went grocery shopping and came home to put things away.  We were down in the basement putting the frozen and canned items away and as I sat there letting her hand me the cans to put on the shelf, I realized I had inadvertently picked up cans of sweet corn CREAMED STYLE.  AHHHHH! Anyone who knows me, knows I HATE creamed corn.  I don't think you could pay me to eat it.  I will use it to make soups, but I will not eat it on it's own (my hatred of it is really a post on it's own).  The store had their cans on sale 2 for $1, so I bought 4 cans.  Anywho...as I sat there putting them away and realized my mistake, I quickly shouted out a couple of "Darn it!!!'s"  (yes Darn), and Tennyson looked at me and said "darn it?"  She continued repeating it as we came upstairs and as she ate her go-gurt, but she seems to have stopped.  Hopefully she'll forget!  It was sort of funny, but not what I want her yelling to people next time we are out in public!

Shutterbug

T loves taking pictures.  We can't take any of her without letting her get a hold of the camera after to take a couple shots of her own.  Maybe we have a little photographer on our hands....let's take a look at the evidence.

Maybe with a little more work, she can make a hobby out of it, but right now we won't be calling up National Geographic or Annie Leibovitz to try to sell any of her shots!

Other than that we haven't bee doing too much, so I just thought I would put up some random pictures to show off her cuteness.

She is growing up quick...just a few more months until the big 0-2.  Not that she gets it, but maybe if her Mom can pull off a Foofa or a Brobee cake, she will be on happy little 2 year old.  Thankfully I haven't mentioned it to her because if I did, every day it would be "Foofa cake? Brobee cake???"...she has a memory to be envied.
That's all for now.  Once we have a room painted, a dresser refinished (where can I find cute, inexpensive dresser knobs/pulls??), we'll post our progress...but don't sit holding your breath, it might be awhile!

Slow Spring

So there isn't anything exciting going on in the household lately.  Life is pretty uneventful for now.  We are enjoying the weather and trying to get outside for some playtime, which T loves.  We have a fun little playhouse in the backyard, some sidewalk chalk, a little car..all of which she loves until you bring out a lawn chair to sit in and then all she wants to do is sit in your chair!!  Well, unless we bring the ball out and then she wants to kick it!

It's funnier when you can hear her say kick it, because she says it in this low, grumbling sort of voice.  Sounds like a trucker or something!

The other night we had gone to the park to fly her Brobee kite (which she loves) and Mark decided to walk home through the trails with her and I drove the car home.  On their little walk home T picked up a new word.  I'm not sure how one spells this, but I will do my best.  Mark pointed up to the crescent shaped moon and asked T what that was, to which she quickly replied, "na-na" (banana).  True enough, it did look like a banana, but Mark told her it was the moon.  Now when you point out the moon and ask her what it is, it is the "moon na-na" (or moonana).  Quite funny.  To us anyway.

On the way to bed the other night she also told Mark and I to "break it down"...I am thinking there has been too much Yo Gabba Gabba lately.

She is also very much fascinated with our neighbour, whom she calls "to-nette" (Jeanette) and looks for her every time we go outside.  She will pretty much repeat anything these days, if you ask (Mark has been put on a leash!) and is pretty good at it sounding similar.  She can say her name when asked (ten-ten), she will count to 10 with us and repeat the alphabet.

It is quite amazing how kids go from jabbers here and there to specific words when asked to non stop chatterbox level.  We are definitely at chatterbox level, unless there is something after that, then we might be at that level!  It's never too quiet around this house anymore.

She loves snacks, cheese and fruit particularly.  We really should have our own check out lane at Costco for as much as I go to restock the fridge with fruit.  She also loves smoothies, hot dogs, yo-go's, and pretty much anything.  Over Easter she had more than her share of candy (which we paid for), but even though she still asks for it on occasion, if offered fruit, she will quickly forget about candy.  At church on Sunday a lady had some chocolate she was giving to some of the kids, T saw it, turned to me and asked for grapes (whose kid is this??)..it made me laugh.  

She is a good little kid, except when she hasn't had a nap and is overtired, then she can start to be a wee bit cranky.  We still experiment with naps, some days she definitely needs them but other days she seems to do alright.  Not sure I enjoy the days without naps, but what can you do?  

We're coming up on her two year check up in a little under two months.  That should be fun.  She hated even lying down for her height check at her 18 month appointment.  She is a feisty kid so this time around might require restraints!!

Anyway, like I said, not much going on, but there's a little recap of T's verbal abilities for now.  Maybe next time I will try to get some new pictures taken!

Starting From Scratch....Sort Of

I've made the switch.  I'm sure it didn't copy over perfectly and I don't think any of the videos transferred over, but that's okay.  I've got them on my computer and if you want to look at them again, T's original blog is still up and viewable if you have an invite to it (and if you don't, but would like one, let me know and I will send you one).  I just decided I wouldn't be able to properly keep 3 blogs up and running, as nice as it would be to have one for me, and one for each child...let's face it, it won't happen.  So the kids will get lumped together and this will become, all family all the time.  Well, not all the time because I doubt I will blog THAT much.  But for those of you interested, this is where you'll find anything and everything related to kids, family outings, shenanigans and anything else family-centric.

I don't promise to update daily or blog about anything mind shattering...mostly pictures and things only grandparents want to know about (or not).

So...for now it will still be all about our little T, but come July she will have to share the spotlight with the boy.  And no, we're not naming him Boy (although it would be easier than trying to decide), it's just easier to call him that now - not that we'd tell you if we'd picked a name anyway!! :o)

Travel Review

We spent the first part of April visiting in Idaho. It was T's first plane ride in almost a year. We were not expecting it to go well, but thankfully it did and we all survived.

T had a grand time playing with all of her cousins, aunts and uncles and Grandma and Grandpa (well except for a couple of you...you know who you are!). Kidding. She loved playing with everyone!

I didn't take a lot of pictures. Not sure if it was because I forgot, or because T would never look at me anyway or if it was because we all had crazy bedhead when ever there was a picture worthy event taking place. Oh well, we will always have the mental images... some of which I would like to forget.

T got to experience her first Easter egg hunt, Easter candy for breakfast, playing in the mayhem of a dozen plus cousins, facial injuries (that thankfully healed quickly and without leaving evidence), watching way too many shows and shopping with Grandma!

Sadly, I think the best part of the trip for her was all of the train rides we took getting to and from the airport. She still talks about them weeks later. Along with getting a high five from DJ Lance over a month ago!! She astounds me with what she remembers.

The saddest thing about trips, for T, is coming back home to one parent at home all day long. it's quite a change and quite boring. Luckily when she got home she had Dad here with her all day, every day for 4 days!! They had days full of kite flying, deck shopping, domino playing, and fun fun fun. But when Mom comes home... it's back to boredom. Maybe Dad should stay at home instead....?

So far I think she has had a fun filled April. We'll see how the second half goes for her. It definitely won't be as crazy, but we will see if we can fit a few fun things in to do!
