Low Rolling

It's official...we have a roller on our hands.  And we actually caught it on camera!  Amazing.
We thought it might be a fluke, but he kept on rolling until he got mad!  He just goes the one way and he can't get back onto his back, but as soon as you put him on the floor he usually goes right on his side and then starts to roll...as long as he can get that darn arm out of his way!

Other than that, life is normal.  Nothing crazy to report, other than the boy is already in 6 months pj's...but can really still sport a newborn sized waistband.  Too bad you can't get newborn waists on 6 month pants!  Some day both of these kids will stop growing and become the shorties we know they are meant to be! :o)
So rather than bore with you the hum drum that is our lives right now, I'll just let you see pictures.

One thing that seems to allude my camera is this boys pout.  Wow.  It is the perfect pout, but he will not let me photograph it.  Here are my attempts:

None of those pictures do it justice...it will melt your heart when he pouts, it can't be helped. The first two pictures just look like he is sticking his lip out and the last picture is just 2 seconds away from a crying meltdown.  I'll keep trying, but it is my mission to capture the pout!

Little T

...our should I say little string bean?
Today was his 2 month check up.  Which meant shots.  3 to be exact, 4 if you count his sister's flu shot.  What an afternoon!
Here are the stats everyone is dying to know:
head circumference - 40cm/ 45.86 percentile
weight - 11 pounds 4 ounces/ 33.62 percentile
height - 25.5 inches/ 98.84 percentile
It still boggles my mind how we end up with such long, skinny kids...but somehow we do!
Everything else checked out fine, he is a healthy string bean who is now up to date on vaccinations!  And he didn't even cry as much as I thought he would.
He is a good little guy when he isn't tired and we've figured out his routine so it makes life easier.  Even though he doesn't leave a large window between eating and napping for getting things done, but we do our best!
He is now a very smiley, semi-laughing baby who likes to stand up, and hang out.  He enjoys tummy time much more than his sister did.  Right now we just work on making sure Tennyson doesn't smother him when she tries to play with him!
Stay tuned until November when the 4 month stats will be in!

Our Big T

It's been awhile since I jotted down all the things Big T is up to, so while little T sleeps and Big T plays in the bath I thought I would try to remember some of them! (Of course little T will wake up any minute.)
So she is now 2 years and 3 months (so old!) and these are some of the things she likes:

  • snacks, Yo Gabba Gabba, Sesame Street, riding the train, airplanes, trampolines, snacks, nursery, playing with Daddy, dancing to the music (flying like a bird), Curious George, puppies, Target, washing her hands (and feet) in the sink by herself, helping with the dishes, making cupcakes, drawing on the basement floor, playing in the bath, brushing her teeth (when its not bedtime), playing with her friends (real and furry), helping with her brother, getting mail, cleaning up the shoes, helping clean up
Here are some of the things she is doing:
  • she can count to ten (calls seven eleven sometimes), can say most of the alphabet with some help and can pick out a dozen or more letters, using the toilet by herself, talking non stop, putting on her shoes, trying to dress herself, getting in and out of the car without help (doesn't always make it, but tries), opening the fridge (yay), eating me out of house and home, trying to work the TV remote, getting into trouble, not taking naps, sleeping in a big girl bed, taking pictures with my camera, trying to nurse her stuffed animals and pez dispensers, waking up at 6AM and not wanting to go back to bed (and still have no nap that day)...she will pretty much try anything once and if she sees you do something-she will quickly copy you!
Some Tennyson-isms of late:
  • "no", (her favourite), "that's what me talking about", "darling", "no, I'm Tennyson" (she says this anytime you say "you're funny" or "you're smart", "you're crazy"...she always replies, "no, I'm Tennyson"!!), " 'bye Mommy, I'm going to the store" "What store Tennyson?" "Um...Costco, Target, Rainbow and Joann's' ", "talk to me, talk to me!". The kid talks non stop.  For anyone who has been around her, you know what me talking about!!  She is 100% a chatterbox.
Favourite Foods:
  • grapes, watermelon, blueberries, pears, peaches, mandarin oranges, cheese, freezies, cookies, candy/chocolate (thanks to potty training!), corn on the cob, carrots, noodles with white or pesto sauce, yogurt, crackers, fruit snacks, eggs, peanut butter and honey bagels
Things Tennyson doesn't like:
  • taking naps, getting her hair washed, playing by herself, when you talk to someone else and not her, when Sesame Street or YGG end and I tell her to turn the TV off, listening to Mommy, talking quietly (not sure she can actually do it, she only has two volumes - loud and louder)
This morning I went downstairs to play with her and she informed me that she had coloured.  I told her to show me  and as I looked over to where the paper was, I noticed the 6 or 7 large circles (scribbles) of black crayon all over the floor.  Thankfully the floor is concrete and the basement is unfinished!! The one time the girl draws more than a line on a page...it's on the floor.  Good times.  Although, maybe I should let her loose in my room and tell her to colour the walls so I can get Mark to paint the room finally!!
Tennyson is a great little girl and so funny.  She is smarter than I think we realize and is a ton of fun to have around.  Even though she can be belligerent, defiant and stubborn at time; but Mark would say she just gets that from her Mother.  Even with all the crazy, pull your hair out days...we will keep her around!

She sure is a ham!
Truman has his 2 month check up next week, so I will update him after that!

Flushed!

Well, I think we're through the rough part.  It's been four days and I need to get out of the house, whether we're ready or not, it's got to happen.
I figured this was as good a week as any since we had nothing going on, so Tuesday morning we dove in.  and boy, did we drown.  We almost didn't come up for air.  But Wednesday rolled around and I said we would dive in one more time and if we drowned again, we would be done.
Amazingly, after only one little setback, we were floating on air!  Okay, well I was because I didn't have to change wet underwear 13 times that day.  Since September 8th, around noon-ish let's say, we've entered the world of underwear full time.  We're still working on night time, but...hey one at a time, right?
It sure will be nice to not have to change the diaper of a mammoth two year old anymore.  I know she isn't that old, but she sure seems like she is...and now she seems even more grown up!

The Stickers!

Sporting some YGG undies!

There is something about hearing, "Mommy, I have to go potty!"  Now if we could just get her to put her underwear back on by herself...or just not take them all the way off every time she has to go!!
Thank goodness we don't have to go through this again for a few more years!  And here is hoping there are no major setbacks or out in public disasters!
A big thank you to Nicole and Emily for their ideas (methods)...we would probably have put potty training on the back burner without them.  She was definitely ready for this, we just had to find her motivation!  And, bribery and treats/toys never hurt either!  Except now when she is 47 years old she will still be asking for a candy every time she pees!
And her big reward for making the transition...tickets to go see Curious George Live!!  I bought a CG book when she was super little and a few months back Mark decided to read her one of the stories...and we read that entire book daily.  All 5, 80 page stories or so.  I had to buy a new George book due to George burnout.  Same thing happened.  We read all of the stories in one sitting!!  I don't think the show will be as good as YGG live, but for $10/ticket...can you go wrong?
So yay for potty training!  Yay for big girl underwear!!

All Dressed Up

We were blessed to have both sets of Grandparents with us over the weekend, when we blessed Truman.  I held my breath and awaited the certainty of his screams to begin.  But, miracles of miracles, the boy only uttered a few grunts right as the Amen's were given.  A miracle indeed!!  It was a great blessing given by his Father and I am hoping between my Mother and Mother in law that it has been written down to be looked over (but since neither one of them gave me the paper they wrote on...???)
After church we decided to snap a couple of pictures...not as successful as the blessing, but we tried.  Sadly we didn't get any with grandparents, but we were lucky to get a few with no tears and with both kids sitting as still as possible after 3 hours at church.
Please enjoy.

(it sure is hard to wrangle a 2 year old, keep a 7 week old from screaming and get everyone looking at the same camera all at once!)
