There are so many things I should post about, but honestly, I am too lazy. Any time I have without a child screaming or yelling, "mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom" seems to be very limited these days. And when it happens, I enjoy sitting and letting my brain turn to mush, not thinking about what my children have done lately that deserves to be blogged about!
Truman is a beast. He will destroy anything, anywhere...beware. Anything that is IN something, will soon be OUT if he is nearby. and he doesn't want to play with it, he just wants to dump it out. Boxes, bins, drawers, cupboards, fridges...you name it. Sadly, he hasn't mastered the art of cleaning up yet, but neither has his 3 year old sister, so I guess I can't expect too much.
He is a walking fool. All day, every day. Thankfully the arms have now assumed the usual position of by the side of the body, not up in the air or like a zombie. He is fast too...no running yet, but he may be an Olympic speed walker someday if he keeps it up!
Food is still a very finicky subject. We have no idea how he decides what he wants to eat and what he doesn't, but he will quickly let you know. He still loves yogurt, watermelon, cantaloupe, crackers, Kix, graham crackers (any dry cereal and cracker really), bananas, cheese strings (finally), strawberries and ice cream. He finally ate bread yesterday!! Zucchini banana bread, go figure. Still won't eat pasta (unless dipped in pickle juice apparently) or regular bread or meat for that matter. Some day, right? Such a difference from his sister.
He doesn't really talk a whole lot but man does he make noise. Babbles, screams, cries, you name it. And the usual nonsensical mamamama, babababa, to anyone or no one. But that's alright with me, not sure we could handle two talkers.
He is a happy guy, loves to play, be outside, laugh at his sister, people watch at stores a GREAT sleeper, as long as he is fed and well napped. At least when he isn't he lets you know!
Tennyson. Oh Tennyson, where do we start? She is a talker, awake, asleep, alone, with people, eating, going to the bathroom...you name it, she is talking. I don't know how she hasn't lost her voice yet. Honestly. It's not just talking though, it's questions. Why, how come, who is that, what are they doing, what did you say, when can we do this, can I do this, can we go here, can we buy this, what does this say....I admit, it is overwhelming. I love how curious and smart she is, but when it is like a machine gun going off at you, all hours of the day every day....there are times when she wakes up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and it is all questions the entire time. I am stumbling around like a zombie and she is all "why is there a towel on the floor? who put it there? why are the bath toys in the tub? what day is it? what do we do on Tuesdays? when can I get up? can I have something to eat?" No! it's 3AM go to sleep!
She loves to work on her preschool books (which she starts going to in a month!!), she can count to 30, is learning letter sounds, loves dot to dots, can make a decent t (well, you can tell it's a t!), is working on circles and triangles, and asks every day when she gets to go to preschool. Something tells me, we should have found a preschool that meets every day!!
When her brother wakes up she runs in to greet him, and loves to make him laugh. I love watching these guys play together....most of the time. I can not imagine what sibling rivalry will be like in 5 years. I am hoping not as hair pulling since Truman should be able to talk by then and both will (hopefully) know how to share better!
While every day might drive me insane, these kids hold special places in my heart. One more than I thought would be possible (but I won't tell you which one!), not that I love one more than the other, because I don't.
We have our moments, and I am hoping the fun, smiling, happy moments win out more than the eyebrow hair, screaming, tear soaked moments.
Sometimes I wish I could keep a video rolling to catch all the fun but then the world would see that most days are pj days and that I won't be winning mother of the year anytime soon!! So I guess I will have to try and remember it in my head. And take pictures. Man do I forget to take pictures. But here are two that show personality and mess...oh boy are they messy!
Enjoying her lollipop from the zoo (don't ask about the hair).
Enjoying a refreshing smoothie pop.
Oh kids, I love you!
