Come On In, The Water's Fine!

Over the weekend we introduced T to swimming...with a pool from mom and dad and a sweet swimsuit from cousin Janna for her birthday how could we not?? OK, so it was more like sitting in the tub, only wearing clothes and being on the front lawn. She didn't do a whole lot, but she seemed to enjoy it. That is until Dad stuck his feet in and the dog started drinking the water!!

Just hanging out, catching some rays (don't worry sunscreen had been applied)
Does my rubber ducky really belong in the pool??
Hmmmm, not too sure about all of this
Is this MY pool or the puppy's pool!?
The aftermath...
Not sure if she will be the next great swimming Olympian, but she should be able to handle hanging out in the pool on the lawn on all of our warm Minnesota summer days.

Let Them Eat Cake!!

The birthday to-do was a little late, but better late than never.
T definitely liked the paper better than the presents, and I'm not too sure if she wasn't a fan of the cake because it didn't taste good, she isn't a cake person, or if she was full from dinner. Either way, she is a dainty little cake eater.
We'll let the pictures tell the story.

Let the gifts begin!
Ball Poppin' fun from Grandma and Grandpa S
Clothes?? I can't play with clothes!
Books! With baby pictures!! Yay!!
Ummm...what do I do with this?
I'll just dip my fingers in it.
Not too sure about this...

It was a small party, Mom, Dad and Grandma and Grandpa F...but T had lots of fun and had lots of gifts! She says a big Thank You to everyone for the books, toys, clothes and coasters!! :o) Next up...swimming in the pool...stay tuned.

Double Digits??

Well, we're off to the Doctor in a bit...fingers are tightly crossed for a 20.0 on the scale, but I know that it is not likely. Nothing better than getting a bunch of shots in honour of turning 1, but what can you do? We don't want to run around getting measles and all those sorts of things.
Maybe we'll have to go to Costco after for some lovely vanilla nonfat frozen yogurt - that will make the tears stop flowing, right?
Good thing T's got birthday celebrations to look forward to this weekend! I haven't decided yet how I think she will react to cake. I am guessing she'll make a mess, but it wouldn't surprise me if she freaks out when she gets icing on her hands either. We'll find out tomorrow!!!
Stay tuned for the big update to come. Wish us luck!

Victory is Mine!

We're back...pricks, pokes, tears and all.
I think she is actually more sad that I have put her down for a nap then having had 2 shot and a finger poke/squeeze.
Alright, here's what we've got.
Length: 30.5 inches/91st percentile
Weight: (drumroll please).....20.8 pounds!!! Yes!!!! 40.65 percentile. (If you will remember, at 9 months the kid hadn't even hit the 6th percentile).
Head: 47cm/93 percentile. The kid's got a noggin on her!! We're actually hoping that there was an incorrect measurment sometime in the past...if not, and her head keeps growing as it currently appears to be (in a straight line on the graph, not a curve), we may have a CT scan in our future. Luckily our Doc thinks it is more likely that they measured her head wrong at one of her early checkups. The Doc isn't worried and neither are we, so we shall wait and see.
She is a happy, healthy, squirmy little girl who apparently does not want to take a nap (what else is new) and she has the go ahead to eat whatever she wants (except fish and nuts), but her mean mother will probably not let her eat WHATEVER people want to feed her, so be ready for mean mom to step in when candy, chocolate and pop may be offered to her. I've got to draw the line somewhere right? Someone's got to be the mean one and we all know that's not going to be Dad.
So yay for 20 pounds!!! What a jump!

Today is My Birthday!!

And she doesn't even have a clue.
Thankfully she doesn't or she would be one sad little girl since we aren't doing anything until the weekend when Gram and Gramps F are here. And she has to go for her wonderful one year check up on Thursday, shots and pricks in the finger...good times! We'll have the stats on that too (fingers crossed for 20 pounds!!!).
We'll have pictures of the traditional cake smashing and all the good stuff to come, but for now...

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!!
Happy Birthday dear Tennyson!!!!!!
Happy Birthday to you!

We sure have enjoyed this last year, and yes it seems like a year! She is a happy, happy little girl who loves watching cars go by, rabbits scamper through the yard, looking out the front window waiting for Daddy to come home from work, going for walks on Daddy's shoulders, making a mess, and eating anything she can get her hands on. We love this little girl more than she knows and she brings a smile to our faces every day. Happy Birthday Tennyson!

One

It's come fast...one more week until she is one year old.
Dilemma.
Does a one year old really need a party? The practical, sensible part of me says no. It's not like she will remember it; have some cake, take a few pictures, we're good to go.
The fun, birthday loving part of me says of course she does!! But then Ms Sensible steps in and says, "come on, all that money, time and effort when she won't have a clue that it's her birthday or even what a birthday IS? Wait until next year."
So of course sensible side will win out. But there will be a cake (or cupcakes at least) of some sort, specifics have not been determined....and there will be an awesome helium filled, foil "1" balloon. Everyone needs a balloon on their birthday.
She will have to wait a couple of days for the partying to begin since Grandma and Grandpa F are making their way down, I don't think she'll mind, do you?
Oh, and what do you get for a one year old? She likes magazines, remotes and coasters better than any of her toys. Guess she'll just have to get some more clothes then. :o)
