One Year Stats and Comparisons

So Truman had his year check up and did pretty good!!  Even with shots and the lead check.  He is a trooper.
Here are the results:
Head - 49cm (98th %)
Weight - 24.7 lbs (74th %)
Height - 32 inches (97th %)

Big heads, tall bodies and skinny waists...not sure how we manage these things.  I looked at Tennyson's year stats and she was 20.8 pounds and 30.5 inches, so he has her beat!  It will be interesting to see if they both keep up this growth rate or if (more like when) they will slow down.
He is a healthy, happy little guy.  He is usually all smile for anyone, but doesn't really like going to anyone but Mom or Dad.  He has a bit of a preference for Mom but we are working on that!!
He is a much pickier eater than his sister, but he loves yogurt, bananas, rice pudding, crackers, dry cereal, smoothies, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, jello, limes, chocolate frosting, ice cream....He does not like cake, pasta, cheese (for the most part, he did eat some cheese string today), vegetables (unless they are pureed), meat, bread...
He has an amazing knack of knowing what he doesn't like without even putting it in his mouth.  He will pick it up and immediately throw it on the floor if he doesn't like it (no need in trying it) or he will clamp his mouth shut and turn his head away.  And you can not pry it open with a crowbar.  We've tried.  So for now, he gets lots of yogurt, bananas and smoothies (with some spinach and other goodies thrown in) and we keep trying big people food, but it usually ends up the same way....me cleaning off the floor.  But we tried.
He loves to play with his sister, loves his vacuum, and any sort of car, truck, ball....he really isn't too picky.  He loves empty Tupperware, measuring cups, spoons...whatever he can get.  He loves the remote and phone the most, but we tend to take those away.  His favourite thing is to give his sister hugs and kisses before bed.  He is always trying to take the plugs out the outlets and put them back in, crawling over the couch cushions his sister throws on the floor and basically just leaving a trail of destruction wherever he goes.  He is obsessed with outside and as soon as he hears/see the door being opened he makes a beeline for it.  If it doesn't result in him being taken outside, we have a bit of a meltdown...okay a huge meltdown!
Truman is a happy, fun kid and we love having him in our family.  And with the way this kid chatters and babbles...once this kid starts talking, I am afraid there will never be a moment of silence in this house again (is it okay to wear earplugs while the kids are at home??)
Here is to another year buddy boy!  We love you!

Birthday Bonanza

I could tell you how much Truman loved his birthday, how we did everything he wanted, ate all the foods he wanted....that it was the perfect day.  But that would be a lie as he really could not have cared less and as most one year old kids, had no clue what was going on.  We had to force him to open presents, he would have been happy with baby food (forget this big people food garbage) and cake...?  Just frosting please.  So here are some pictures from the day.  I think he had fun and we'll hope I am right!

A lovely yawn while at the play place.
He did NOT enjoy riding in the tank,
Watching Dad in the batting cages with Grandma.
 The cake.
 The haul.
Hanging out on the stairs...presents?  What are presents?
 Woohoo, dump truck!
He LOVED this riding car...we had to pull him off of it many times to get him to open his next present.

We finally just let him open them on the rider!
This hat lasted about 1.4 seconds on his head.
 Trucks!
 More trucks!
 Back to the rider.
 Trucks!
 Rider.
 Oh, what's this??
A lawnmower!! (And me trying to bribe him to come over for his next present)
And the hit of the party....

This kid is so going to have vacuuming on his chore list when he gets older!

 Before the cake.
 Here it comes...
 mmmmm!

 The aftermath.

He loved the frosting...not so much the cake.  Any cake that got in his mouth was promptly spit out onto the floor.  Thanks kid.
And the bath shot.  I have never seen such a ring around the tub.  When the water drained you would have thought I had just wiped pure icing all along the tub.  This boy had frosting in his hair, his nose, his ears...I think we still found dried icing the next day!!
Happy Birthday Truman-ator!!!  We love you and hope you had a great day, even if you didn't know what was going on!
