Canada Day and America Day

We have Canada Day and the 4th in this house, but Tennyson didn't quite get the 4th, so we called it America Day for her.  That worked.  We had a lovely Canada Day.  Mark decorated the yard with Canada flags and other things (no pictures...)  and we went out for dinner to Denny's (because every Canadian celebrates Canada Day with dinner at Denny's).  We came home that evening to discover our power was out.    We got the kids into bed and hunkered down to watch episodes of Arrested Development on my phone.  We woke up the next morning and the power was still out.  Luckily we have some friends who lent us their generator and we were in business.  We continued to get ready for our Canada Day BBQ as best we could.  We had ribs and pork and salad and Ginger Ale and red and white cupcakes and many friends over for the fun!  The kids got to play in the sprinkler and pool...a good time was had by all.  This is the only Canada Day picture I have, but it's a cute one, so that's okay!

America Day was good too...

We started out with US flags for breakfast...
 modeled our US shirt...

 rode on some carnival rides....

 hung out...

got ready for some driveway fireworks....

 watched the fireworks...

 didn't really enjoy the fireworks...

 except for the sparklers!

It was pretty low key around here but we all had a good time and ate some ice cream and hot dogs and hamburgers, so a good day all around.
